Uri Police nab drug peddler, seize contraband & cash
In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, police personnel from Uri police station apprehended a suspected drug peddler at a checkpoint established in Paranpeelan Uri in Baramulla. The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts to curb the sale and distribution of narcotics in the region.
The suspect’s identity has been revealed as Arif Jungwa, son of Mohd Hussain, a resident of Machikrund Uri. During a routine search at the checkpoint, police officials intercepted Jungwa and upon further investigation, recovered a significant amount of contraband substances from his possession.

The seized drugs include approximately 1.6 kilograms of cannabis powder and 34 grams of a substance suspected to be charas. Additionally, cash was also recovered from the suspect, though the exact amount has not been disclosed by authorities.
He has been arrested and taken into custody at Uri police station. A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered, and a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the source of the drugs and identify any potential accomplices.
