“If PM Modi has said ‘400 paar’ then…”: BJP’s Unnao candidate Sakshi Maharaj
Unnao (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 13 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader and candidate from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj, cast his vote and exuded confidence that the BJP will win over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
He cast his vote at Primary School Gadankheda, booth No. 272 in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao.
Speaking to ANI, Sakshi Maharaj said that from Kannauj to Wayanad, all the opposition opponents are losing the Lok Sabha elections.
“If PM Modi has said “400 paar”, I think we will cross 400. Akhilesh Yadav from Kannauj, Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri, Rahul Gandhi from Raebareli and Wayanad and Owaisi from Hyderabad – all of them are losing elections,” Maharaj said.
On Rahul Gandhi accepting ‘invitation’ for a public debate with PM Modi, and the BJP leader said that Congress does not have the guts to face our ‘Sher’ (PM Modi).
“For 5 years, Congress was never ready for debate. It didn’t let the House function and they used to boycott it when important discussions were held. So, those who are extending open challenges are cowards, cunning. They don’t have the guts to face our ‘Sher’…How can we ask him to come for debate when he is not even going to be elected as an MP, when he is not going to see Parliament. What is the use of this debate?” he added.
Sakshi Maharaj is pitted against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Annu Tandon. The BSP has fielded Ashok Kumar Pandey.
Voting for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 96 Parliamentary Constituencies across nine states and one Union Territory began on Monday at 7:00 am.
Polling for all 175 seats of the State Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh and 28 seats of the State Legislative Assembly of Odisha also started simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls.
Of the 96 Lok Sabha seats, 25 are from Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Telangana, 13 from Uttar Pradesh, 11 from Maharashtra, eight each from Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, five from Bihar, four each from Jharkhand and Odisha, and one from Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the poll body, a total of 4,264 nominations were filed for 96 parliamentary constituencies across.
Of the 96 Lok Sabha seats, 25 are from Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Telangana, 13 from Uttar Pradesh, 11 from Maharashtra, eight each from Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, five from Bihar, four each from Jharkhand and Odisha and one from Jammu and Kashmir.
The fourth phase is witnessing key contests in various constituencies. Leaders such as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, TMC leader Mahua Moitra, BJP leader Giriraj Singh, JDU’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), TMC leaders Shatrughan Sinha and Yusuf Pathan.
BJP leaders Arjun Munda and Madhavi Latha, and Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief YS Sharmila are also looking for electoral success.
So far, till phase 3 of the Lok Sabha polls, polling has concluded smoothly and peacefully in 283 Lok Sabha seats.
