DDMA discusses District Disaster Management Plan for Kishtwar
DC stresses Strengthening of Apda Mitra Teams, Volunteers
KISHTWAR, MAY 15: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kishtwar met in the conference hall of the DC office complex here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, to review and discuss the District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP).
The goal was to establish an effective standard operating procedure to handle disaster situations in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Abdul Qayoom; ADC Pawan Kotwal; ACR Idrees Ahmed Lone; SDM Marwah Mohd Ashraf; ACD Phulail Singh; SDM Paddar Amit Kumar, AD Food Shafqat Keen; Dy. SP (DAR) Sajjad Khan; Accounts Officer DC Office Satender Singh Chouhan; Red Cross official Sheikh Asgar, officers from the district departments and representatives from the SDRF, Red Cross and Apda Mitras.
Extensive discussions were held on establishing a responsive and effective disaster management mechanism through a robust institutional framework in the district.
The discussions covered various aspects, including the duties and responsibilities of different departments and officers, necessary resources, and their effective utilization under a well-organized guiding mechanism.
The DC highlighted that in addition to the government workforce, Apda Mitras should be prepared for any situation at the ground level.
Several other aspects and requirements were also discussed, including regular training programs with the police department, disaster drills, and the development of generic task force teams at block, sub-division, and tehsil levels to strengthen and finalize the disaster management plan for the district.
The formation of Quick Response Teams and advisory committees at district, block, and tehsil levels was emphasized upon.
It was decided that necessary disaster management kits will be provided to Apda Mitras and volunteers.
