ALC inspects facilities for Workers at Kiru HEP

KISHTWAR, MAY 18: Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Mamta Sudershan, accompanied by a team of the Labour Department, conducted an inspection of the facilities provided to workers at the Kiru Hydroelectric Power Project (HEP).

During the visit, the ALC Kishtwar interacted with the workers residing in the camp, attentively listening to their grievances and challenges faced in their daily lives.

The inspection revealed several deficiencies in the facilities provided to the workers.

Key issues identified included unhygienic food and dining areas, lack of proper safety gear, inadequate medical care, insufficient seating arrangements, and inadequate drinking water and medical facilities.

The ALC directed the project authorities, including the principal employer and the involved contractors, to address these issues and ensure the provision of all basic facilities to the workers within a week’s time positively without any fail.

This directive aims to alleviate the suffering of the workers and ensure their well-being.

The project authorities assured the ALC of their commitment to providing all necessary facilities in the camps and at the workplace in compliance with the relevant norms, as soon as possible.
