FICCI FLO JKL Launches “Har Ghar Swasth” Initiative to Provide Affordable Healthcare to Rural Communities
Jammu, May 19, 2024: FICCI FLO JKL today officially launched its “Har Ghar Swasth” initiative, aiming to provide affordable healthcare to rural communities. The launch event featured a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness & Sanitary Napkin Distribution Drive at Prem Nagar benefitting 200 women, marking a significant step towards promoting women’s health and well-being in rural areas.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL, addressed the gathering and urged the women to prioritize their health. She highlighted that only a healthy woman can keep her home healthy. Mrs. Gupta encouraged the women to talk openly about the menstrual cycle with their daughters, stressing the need to eliminate the stigma associated with menstruation. She requested the attendees to share the knowledge gained during the session with their community to further spread awareness and promote a healthier society. She thanked Mrs. Tina Malhotra for helping FLO connect with the women for the event. She also lauded the efforts & commitment of SMVD Narayan Super Specialty Hospital, Katra, for always extending their support to FLO JKL health initiatives.
Dr. Beena Jad, Senior Consultant & HOD (Dept. of Lab Medicine) from SMVD Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Katra, delivered an insightful awareness talk to the women present. She emphasized the importance of maintaining basic hygiene during menstrual days and provided valuable information about the cervical cancer vaccine, which is now available free of cost by the government for girls aged 9-14 years. Additionally, Dr. Jad educated the women about breast cancer awareness and the importance of regular self-examinations.
The event concluded with an interactive session where women were encouraged to ask questions and have their queries addressed by Dr. Beena Jad. This was followed by the distribution of 5,500 sanitary napkins to the women present, ensuring they have access to necessary hygiene products.
FICCI FLO JKL is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of rural communities through its “Har Ghar Swasth” initiative. Through a series of health camps which shall take place across remote areas, they aim to address various health concerns such as orthopedic issues, eye ailments, tuberculosis, heart conditions and general medical needs.
