JKAACL hosts first-ever musical evening dedicated to free verse poetry of Prof Lalit Mangotra
Jammu, [08-06-2024] – The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) proudly organized its first-ever musical evening dedicated to the free verse poetry of Prof. Lalit Mangotra, President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu. The event took place today at the Writers’ Club of JKAACL under the esteemed guidance of Sh. Bharat Singh, Secretary of JKAACL, bringing together a blend of poetic expression and musical artistry.
At the beginning of the event, Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor cum Cultural Officer, Gojri, JKAACL, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests on behalf of Sh. Bharat Singh, Secretary, JKAACL. Following this, Prof. Lalit Mangotra shared his views about the event.
The evening was graced by the presence of Prof. R.D. Sharma, Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, who was the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Sharma remarked, “Dr. Lalit Mangotra’s free verse captures the essence of our cultural heritage, and today’s musical evening is a testament to the power of art in bridging diverse expressions.”
Sh. Ashok Angurana presided over the function. He shared his insights, saying, “The amalgamation of free verse poetry with music not only enriches our cultural experience but also creates a new avenue for the appreciation of literary art.”
The evening featured captivating performances by singers Vanshika Jaral, Mukteshi Sharma, Aaditya Langeh, and Riaz Malik, whose voices brought the poetry to life. They were adeptly supported by musicians Rakesh Jasotra on flute, Sunil Sharma on synthesizer, Amit Anand on tabla, Rajeev Sagotra on dholak, and Jagmeet Singh on guitar. Prof. Mangotra’s free verse poetry soared on the musical wings provided by the eminent music composer Sh. Brij Mohan.
