“Extremely sad”: Priyanka Gandhi condemns terror attacks in J&K
New Delhi [India], June 12 (ANI): Following three terror attacks within a week in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday condemned the attacks calling them “extremely sad”.
“The news of the martyrdom of a soldier in the terrorist attack in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir is extremely sad. May God give peace to the departed soul”, said Vadra in a post on ‘X’.
“My deepest condolences to the family. Terrorism cannot be condemned enough. The people of the entire country are united against these attacks. The government should take immediate action against these attacks and take strict steps”, she added.
The region has witnessed a surge in violence with three significant attacks: the Reasi terror attack, the Kathua terror attack, and the Doda terror attack.
The series of attacks began on June 9, when terrorists attacked a bus in Reasi, causing it to plunge into a gorge. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of at least 9 pilgrims and left 42 others injured.
In the days following, villagers in the Hiranagar area of Kathua reported hearing gunshots on Tuesday. This was followed by an attack on a security checkpost in the Chattragala area on the same night.
Meanwhile, two terrorists involved in the Kathua terror attack have been neutralised and a search operation is continuing, said Jammu and Kashmir police officials.
The encounter in Doda led to an exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces, resulting in injuries to five jawans and a sub-divisional special police officer (SDPO)
