JU in Collaboration with Mission Directorate RUSA, J&K organises One Day Workshop on AISHE

JAMMU, February 10: A one-day workshop on All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) was held at University of Jammu. The workshop was conducted by the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), University of Jammu in collaboration with Mission Directorate RUSA, J&K, the Nodal Agency for All India Survey in Higher Education in J&K. The workshop was aimed at providing offline web-based training to various colleges affiliated to University of Jammu regarding uploading of AISHE data.

The welcome address to participants was given by Dr. Ginny Dogra, Deputy Director, DIQA & University Nodal Officer AISHE. In her address, she stressed upon the need for cooperation between University AISHE Cell and College Nodal Officers (AISHE) for making the scheme successful. She further, ensured that a special camp for colleges facing difficulties in uploading the data on the AISHE Portal shall be held to facilitate the colleges so as to complete the project in a time bound manner .

Chief Guest for the workshop Prof. Rajeev Rattan, Director, College Development Council, University of Jammu, in his address, implied upon a need to conduct such workshops as data so collected is of pivotal importance in policy formulation for higher education and significantly important for researchers. He emphasized on the need of quality and accurate data for prospective planning of future needs in the Higher Education sector in India.

Shri Ashok Kumar, Mission Director, RUSA, in his address elaborated the link between AISHE data and pattern of RUSA funding to various states/UTs of the country. He further pointed out that, AISHE data is used to monitor the progress of RUSA in the UT of J&K. He also explained the vitality of Higher Education indicators like GER, GPI, PTR obtained on the basis of AISHE data.

Ms. Anita Sirohiwal, Joint Director, Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in her address, explained major changes that have been made in web data capture format to make the whole process user friendly as well as reliable and also to accommodate basic information required for making NEP-2020 successful.

The technical session on the filling of web DCF was conducted by Mr. Shivam Pandey (Research Associate), Mr.Vikas Mehta, Mr.Sanjiv Kumar from Higher Education Department in Ministry of Education, GoI which was followed by Q&A session wherein, technical issues faced by colleges of Jammu division were resolved instantly.

The workshop was attended by around 130 participants including Nodal Officers of AISHE of various Government/Private degree colleges affiliated to the University of Jammu, Offsite Campuses of University of Jammu and participants from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Asif Iqbal, State Coordinator, AISHE, J&K UT. The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by Er. Ameet Targotra, Quality Assurance Officer, DIQA. Dr.Amit Sharma Statistician, DIQA coordinated the programme in liaison with Mission Directorate RUSA J&K UT.
