ADC Kathua disposes of 15 cases under FSSA Act 2006, imposes fine of Rs 4, 48,000 on defaulters

KATHUA, JUNE 14: In a significant move to uphold food safety and standards, the Adjudicating Officer, ADC Kathua, Ranjit Singh, today disposed of 15 cases under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) 2006. The defaulters have been fined a total of Rs 4,48,000.


This stringent action was taken against traders found selling substandard and misbranded items. The erring traders, including manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, belong to various business establishments across Kathua, Billawar, Hiranagar, and Basohli divisions.


The penalized establishments have also been sternly warned to refrain from such malpractices. They are urged to ensure that standardized commodities of good quality are provided to consumers, safeguarding public health and maintaining trust in the marketplace.
