Food Safety Department conducts surprise Market Checking in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, JUNE 15: On the eve of Eid-Ul-Adha, Food Safety Department (FSD) Anantnag today conducted surprise market checking especially of Food Business Operators dealing with Bakery and Sweets, Meat and Meat products, Milk and Milk products, Fruits and Vegetables, etc. in the various markets of the district.
During market checking, a penalty to the tune of Rs.26500 was recovered from erring FBOs from the last 03 working days and 02 FBOs were booked under Section 56 and 58 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006.


Furthermore, in the interest of the public health threat, licenses of 02 Hoteliers have been suspended forthwith. Moreover, Services of Mobile Food Testing Van (MFTV) were utilized for on spot testing of fresh fruits and vegetables, ready to eat food products, and milk and milk products for pesticide residues, unpermitted additives and quality parameters.


The Food Safety authorities of the district have cautioned that regular inspections will continue in the district to maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality, and FBOs were sternly warned to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006/Rules and Regulations there under.
