DC Samba chairs review meeting to ensure smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024

SAMBA, JUNE 21: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma, chaired a pivotal review meeting today at the Conference Hall, DC Office Samba, to assess and streamline the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra – 2024.


The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for stakeholder departments to adopt a proactive approach and coordinate their efforts to ensure comprehensive preparations for the annual pilgrimage. He stressed the importance of making all necessary arrangements at the 26 lodgment centers established across the district for a seamless Yatra experience.


The DC said that the District Administration is committed to providing the best facilities for the yatris, including adequate provisions for basic amenities such as drinking water, sanitation, electricity, and lodging.


In addition to the lodging centers, two RFID issuing counters will be set up at Chichi Mata and Nonath Ashram to facilitate the yatris. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to develop a comprehensive plan covering sanitation, health, traffic management, and lodging to ensure the comfort and safety of all pilgrims.


The meeting also discussed the arrangement for displaying digital screens, banners, and the installation of signboards at prominent locations to provide a 360-degree feedback mechanism for stakeholders. The DC instructed NHAI officials to prioritize construction works and install signboards at diversions promptly.


The DC directed the Executive Officers to ensure that labor is deployed only after proper CID verification to maintain security and order during the Yatra.


The review meeting was attended by SSP Samba Vinay Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Suresh Chander, SDMs of Vijaypur and Ghagwal, Executive Engineers from PDD, PHE, and PWD, DIO, Tehsildars, and other district officers from various departments.
