Woody Harrelson says he doesn’t own a cellphone: Don’t like to be readily available at any time
Los Angeles, Jun 24 (PTI) Three-time Oscar winner Woody Harrelson says he gave up using a cellphone around three-and-a-half years ago after he realised he was growing addicted to it.
Harrelson made the revelation in a recent episode of his and Ted Danson’s podcast “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” after his co-host said he doesn’t have a phone and was “one of those bullies” who makes other people carry his phone.
The “True Detective” alum, however, said it wasn’t “exactly true”.
“I just don’t like to have to be readily available to any human being at any time. And plus, that’s not the reason. I like to be in touch with people, in a way, but I don’t like the appendage on my appendage,” he added.
The 62-year-old actor said he has extensively used the device for three-and-a-half years. He also recalled setting a limit to using the cellphone, adding he would end up texting much more than making phone calls.
“I made a thing where I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna set a two-hour limit on my phone.’ It’s like 9.30. I’ve already hit my limit at 9.30. So I woke up and I’ve been on it for two hours already because you know how it can just keep going and going,” he said.
Harrelson said he even got distracted by the phone when he was at dinner with someone, something which led to a “lull in the conversation”.
