Career counselling prog held at Nawakadal College Sgr

SRINAGAR, JULY 11: SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Srinagar, Department of Social Welfare organised career counselling cum sensitization programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padao in collaboration with Govt. Degree college Nawakadal for the female students of college.

The significance of the programme was to help in understanding the importance of career options like how to pursue different careers, selection of the appropriate career and aid on the development of confidence and skills. Various experts in this regard were invited who shared their expertise on various topics viz-a-viz career and its development, career opportunities after 10th and self-employment opportunities/ schemes.

The Principal Nawa Kadal College Prof. Dr Mohammad Farooq Mir while speaking on the occasion about Career counselling as a process that will help in knowing and understanding oneself and the world of work in order to make career, educational and life decisions.

Career counselling provides guidance in decision making, clarity in career goals, skill development, strategies for overcoming challenges, advice on job searches and increases confidence, he said.

Among other members present on the occasion were Ruqaya Ashraf District Mission Coordinator- HEW Srinagar, staff from SANKALP- Hub for Empowerment of Women Mission Shakti Srinagar faculty from the Nawa Kadal College Srinagar.
