DC Rajouri launches plantation drive at Dassal panchayat

RAJOURI, JULY 12: In a bid to promote environmental conservation, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat, launched a plantation drive at Dassal Panchayat.


The drive was kicked off with the planting of a Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) sapling, a fruit-bearing tree species. The event was organised by the State Bank of India in collaboration with District Administration. He stressed the significance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, purifying the air, and supporting the wildlife. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.


The DC directed concerned officers to replicate the plantation drive in all panchayats of the district. He highlighted the crucial role of trees in supporting human life and the need for their conservation.He has also appealed to the people to come forward and join the drive to make Rajouri a greener and more sustainable district.


Among the others who were present on the occasion were Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Dr Raj Kumar Thapa; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Sheraz Chowhan, Officers of State Bank of India, officials of RDD and other departments.
