DC Samba inaugurates District Level Capacity Building Training Programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
SAMBA, JULY 12: The Department of Social Welfare, Samba, successfully organized a District Level Capacity Building Training Programme under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. The event was inaugurated by the District Commissioner (DC) Samba, Abhishek Sharma.
The training programme aimed to empower stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively implement and promote the objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, which focuses on the survival, protection, and education of the girl child. The initiative underscores the importance of gender equality and the need to enhance the value of girls in society.
In his inaugural address, DC Abhishek Sharma emphasized the significance of educating and empowering girls to ensure their active participation in the socio-economic development of the region. He highlighted the various measures undertaken by the district administration to support the cause and called for collective efforts to create a conducive environment for the holistic development of girls.
The event, organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with SANKALP: HEW Samba, saw participation from over 300 attendees, including officials such as District Programme Officer Dr. Subhash, SDPO, District Social Welfare Officer Nawaz Sharif, resource persons from Health and Family Welfare, advocates from the High Court, DPM from JKRLM, Mission Shakti SANKALP:HUB, OSC, SI Samba Special Cell, and students from Government Degree College.
The programme aimed to create awareness about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme and maintain gender balance in district Samba. Resource persons from the Health and Family Welfare Department educated attendees about the PCPNDT and MTP acts, emphasizing the impact of female foeticide on the declining female sex ratio. Legal experts stressed the importance of legal awareness for women to ensure their safety, dignity, and justice, highlighting key provisions in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhinta that offer protection against crimes like domestic violence, sexual harassment, and dowry-related offences.
The SANKALP: HEW Mission Shakti team informed participants about various women-centric schemes and initiatives aimed at empowering women through leadership and support. The event concluded with an interactive session, a signature campaign, and a selfie point under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, fostering a sense of commitment and unity towards the cause.
