TMC only party, 38 pc of whose elected MPs are women, says CM Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 21 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is the only party in the country 38 per cent of whose elected MPs are women.

Addressing the TMC’s Martyrs Day rally in Kolkata, CM Banerjee said, “Trinamool Congress is the only party whose 38 per cent of elected MPs are women. Before the elections, many parties claimed to provide a 33 per cent reservation for women in politics but could not do it. We are the only party that ensured 38 per cent women’s representation.”

Further, she said that in North Bengal, they might have gotten bad results, but in the coming days, they will come out with a better result.

“We got a bad result in North Bengal, but in the coming days, we are trying to get a better result in North Bengal. I don’t understand why people there do not vote for us,” CM Banerjee said.

“In Malda, I don’t know why you people are misunderstanding us. You have given one seat to Congress and one to the BJP; maybe it is our unfortunate nature,” she added.

Further, she said, “You have helped us win the elections, and I am grateful. I hope that in the coming days, we will win Malda in 2026.”

Additionally, she thanked Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and said, “I want to thank Akhilesh ji. You accepted my invitation. I want the relation of Bengal to become better with the entire country. I want to say that the ‘Khel’ you showed in UP, the BJP, should have resigned from their post, but they are shameless.”

She added, “They have tried every agency and every means possible, but they have still lost. In North Bengal, our results have not been good, but I hope in the coming days, we will be winning there.
