Awareness program on Women-Centric Legislations held at Tulamulla

GANDERBAL, JULY 26: The District Legal Services Authority, (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Ganderbal and Women Special Cell Ganderbal, today organized an awareness program on women-centric legislations at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Tulamulla.


The program aimed to educate and empower women about their rights and the legal protections available to them. The program was attended by teachers & students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Tulamulla.


During the event, Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant Legal Aid Counsel, Ganderbal, imparted awareness among the participants about various women-centric legislations, including, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, Laws related to Child Marriage and Dowry, Eve-teasing and other relevant laws.


He highlighted the importance of these legislations in protecting women’s rights and promoting gender justice. He also emphasized the role of DLSA Ganderbal in providing free legal aid and assistance to women in need.


Rukaya Showkat, Gender specialist, enlightened the participants about various women-centric schemes available in different government departments, aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality. She emphasized the importance of awareness and accessibility of these schemes, ensuring that women in the district can benefit from them.


Sobiya Malik, Social Worker, Special Cell for women, imparted awareness among the participants about critical issues affecting women, including, Women harassment, Cyber crime, Domestic violence etc.


She also highlighted the role and working of the Special Cell for Women in District Ganderbal, which provides support and assistance to women in distress. She emphasized the importance of reporting incidents and seeking help from the Special Cell.
