DC Bandipora reviews functioning of Cooperative Department

BANDIPORA, JULY 25: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman today reviewed the overall functioning of the Cooperative Department and the achievements realized by the Cooperative Sector in a meeting held at the VC room of Mini Secretariat Bandipora.


During the meeting, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Department Bandipora, Amreena Shaheen, while giving the overview of the present status of the cooperative sector in the district, informed that the department has taken several initiatives to strengthen the cooperative movement in the district.


It was given out in the meeting that there are a total of 121 Functional Cooperatives and 29 Functional Cooperative Societies in the district which include 14 PACS (Primary Agriculture Credit Societies), 03 Cooperative Marketing Societies, 04 Poultry Co-operative Societies, 4 Dairy Co-operative Societies and 04 other FPOs.


During the comprehensive review, the DC instructed the Deputy Registrar to increase the number of Food Processing Units in consultation with the other allied departments and convergence of different schemes for effective delivery of quality food items to the public.


While emphasising the need for organic farming, he directed for an increase in the number and membership of Cooperative Societies promoting organic farming.


He also directed the Deputy Registrar to find out the provisions of interim arrangement of shops for starting the “Cooperative Super Bazar” in Bandipora. Assistant Registrars were directed for the identification of locations for PACS and CSCs in each block for making them eligible for the provision of Aadhar services


He asked the officers of the departments to organize regular workshops and awareness camps about the schemes and initiatives of the departments promoting the cooperative sector.


Shakeel-ul Rehman directed for identification of sites for establishing Jan Aushadi Kendras at Gurez.


He urged the officer to ensure LPG distribution in the far flung areas through cooperatives and the establishment of Cooperative Dairy Societies in milk surplus areas.


The review meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Assistant Drug Controller, Assistant Register Headquarter, besides the block officers of the cooperative department.
