Director Agriculture launches Meri Policy Mere Hath (MPMH) drive
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 15: Director Agriculture Production & Farmer welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma on Wednesday launched Meri Policy Mere Hath (MPMH) drive under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for season Rabi-2022-23, here at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo.
Under this MPMH drive involving door step policy distribution, the Fasal Bima Policy Papers will be handover to insured farmers by empanelled Insurance companies i.e. IFFCO TOKIO & Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd with collaboration of Agriculture Department in district Jammu, Samba, Udhampur in Jammu division and district Anantnag in Kashmir Division.
Speaking on this occasion, the Director Agriculture said that the farmers have been empowered against financial losses due to natural calamities by opting for Fasal Bima under PMFBY. He emphasized that the Fasal Bima Yojna will go a long way in mitigating the financial risk of the farmer suffering from the crop losses and aid in stabilizing the farmer’s income. This will also ensure flow of credit in the Agriculture Sector. During the current season approx. 40000 policies will be delivered to the farmers.
He further informed that 182000 farmers in J&K UT have been covered under PMFBY scheme since kharif 2021 and insurance claims to the tune of 56 crore have been settled under PMFBY during kharif 2021 and Rabi 21-22.
