“Chalo Panchayat”: Congress holds threadbare discussions on burning issues during meet in Ramban

Ramban, 29th July 2024: As part of the Indian Youth Congress’s ‘Chalo Panchayat’ initiative, a significant meeting was held today in Chabba, Ramban, to address pressing local issues. The meeting was led by Fairoz Khan, former National President of NSUI and Youth Congress Working President of J&K, with the programme coordinated by senior Congress leader Ishaq Khanday.

During the meeting, several critical issues were highlighted by the local representatives and residents of Chabba:

Transportation Challenges: There are currently no matadors or mini-buses plying the road from Ramban to Chabba. Residents rely on Tata Sumos, which charge fares that do not align with the approved fare list, causing significant financial strain.

Road Conditions: The condition of the PMGSY road from Ramban to Chabba is severely deteriorated, making travel difficult and hazardous. Immediate repairs and maintenance are required.

Healthcare Facilities: The Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Chabba is not functional, depriving residents of essential medical services. There is an urgent need to operationalize the PHC.

Educational Infrastructure: The need for a high school in Chabba was emphasized, as the absence of such an institution is hindering the educational development of local children. Establishing a high school would significantly benefit the youth.

The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Saladin Wani, Sarpanch Chabba; Sanjay Singh, Panch Chabba; Shaheen Khanday; Chain Singh; Ramesh Singh; Irshad Ahmed; Manzoor Wani; Shamas-u-din; Naseeb Singh; and Dayan Singh.

Fairoz Khan assured attendees that these issues would be brought to the attention of relevant authorities and pledged to work towards finding immediate solutions. He criticized the current administration for neglecting the basic needs of residents and reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to addressing these issues effectively.

In response to the unresolved issues, the local residents are planning to organize a protest to demand their rights and immediate action. The ‘Chalo Panchayat’ programme, an initiative of the Indian Youth Congress, continues to be held in every panchayat in Ramban, empowering local panchayats, strengthening grassroots democracy, and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and addressed.
