Historic decision ends discrimination against displaced community: Khajuria
BJP Sharnarthi Cell hails government’s decision on land rights for DPs of 1965, WPRs
Jammu, July 31: In a landmark development, the government has ended the long-standing discrimination against the West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) by granting proprietary rights on State land in favor of these families. This decision also extends to the Displaced Persons of 1965 concerning State land, marking a significant moment for thousands of families across the Jammu region. Pt Ashok Khajuria, Convenor of the BJP Sharnarthi Cell, has hailed this move as “historic” and a major step towards empowering the displaced community.
In a statement issued today, Pt. Ashok Khajuria applauded the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government for providing relief to refugee families who have long endured hardships. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, for their decisive action in addressing the needs of the displaced community.
“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre has delivered much-needed relief from decades-long suffering for these refugee families,” said Khajuria. “Since the reorganization of J&K on August 5, 2019, domicile rights have been conferred upon the West Pakistan Displaced Persons. This recent decision fulfills the longstanding demands of families who have sought ownership rights for many years.”
Convenor of the BJP Sharnarthi Cell praised the government’s efforts to bring WPDs on par with Displaced Persons of PoJK, noting that the BJP Sharnarthi Cell congratulates the visionary leadership of PM Modi, Union HM Amit Shah, and J&K LG Manoj Sinha for this significant development.
He emphasized that the Modi-led NDA Government has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of displaced persons, similar to the benefits extended to Displaced Persons of 1947 and 1971. The recent decision raises hopes that other long-pending issues, such as the POJK DPs 254-C related to land transfer, will soon be addressed.
Khajuria also highlighted recent developments, including the allocation of land for the construction of a POJK Bhawan at Suketar in Jammu, the reservation of a legislative assembly seat for POJK refugees, and the issuance of Rs 5.5 lakhs to refugee families. These actions, he noted, reflect the BJP’s commitment under PM Modi’s leadership to uplift the refugee community and other marginalized sections.
Khajuria concluded by appealing to the general public to continue their support for BJP leadership and strengthen it for the betterment of the community.
