DC Samba reviews Swachhta Pakhwada Campaign

SAMBA, JULY 31: The District Commissioner (DC) of Samba, Abhishek Sharma, chaired a pivotal meeting today at the Conference Hall, Samba, to discuss the upcoming Swachhta Pakhwada campaign titled “Ek Ped Maa k Naam, Ek Ped Shahidoon k Naam.” This fortnight-long initiative, set to run from 1st August to 15th August 2024, will focus on a wide array of Swachhta (cleanliness) activities aimed at fostering community participation and enhancing civic sense.

The event saw the participation of district and sectoral officers, all of whom expressed their commitment to making the campaign a success. The campaign will engage various stakeholders, including government offices, schools, colleges, social organizations, NGOs, and former Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, extending the activities down to the Gram Panchayat level. A series of cleanliness drives will be conducted at different locations, and awareness will be raised among school and college students through co-curricular activities.

DC highlighted that the campaign’s primary objective is to instill a sense of civic responsibility and belongingness among the citizens of Samba. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness drives in tourist areas, heritage sites, roads, highways, religious places, and the Shilaphalkam in each panchayat, as well as the removal of weeds and the cleaning of Amrit Sarovars.

In addition to these activities, DC Sharma directed officers to visit the families of martyrs and involve them in the plantation drive, paying floral tributes to the martyrs. He also instructed the health department to arrange camps for rag pickers and their families, ensuring their well-being during the campaign.

This comprehensive approach aims to create a cleaner, greener, and more aware community, honoring both nature and the nation’s heroes.
