Harvinder Singh inaugurates Swachhta Pakhwada “The Shuchita Sangram” in Doda

DODA, AUGUST 1: In a bid to promote cleanliness and hygiene in the district, the District Development Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh inaugurated Swachhta Pakhwada “The Shuchita Sangram” at DC office complex. The event marked the commencement of a fortnight-long campaign that will run from August 1 to August 15, 2024. The inaugural ceremony began with a pledge in the conference hall of the DC office complex, where DC Doda, along with officials, students, and citizens, vowed to maintain cleanliness and work towards a greener, healthier environment.


The pledge emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission.


Following the pledge ceremony, the beautifully decorated Swachhta Pakhwada Sangram Van was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner. The van, adorned with banners and messages promoting cleanliness, will travel across the district, spreading awareness and encouraging community participation in cleanliness drives. In his address, the DC Harvinder Singh highlighted the significance of such initiatives in fostering a sense of responsibility among residents. He urged everyone to actively participate in the scheduled activities over the next two weeks and contribute towards making Doda a model district in terms of cleanliness and sanitation.


The initiative aims to cover various activities, including cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and educational programs, to ensure widespread participation and impact. Key initiatives include special cleanliness awareness drives to discourage waste dumping, promoting a pledge to keep public places clean, plantation drives, proper waste management, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and spreading awareness about cleanliness.


DC Doda also directed concerned officers to ensure that all offices and premises remain clean and hygienic and instructed the forest department to enhance plantation drives across the district.


The event was attended by prominent officials including ADDC Doda Pran Singh, ASP Doda Shakeel Ul Rehman, DPO Doda S Parmjeet Singh, CPO Doda Manesh Kumar Manhas, district officers, officials, teachers, students, and representatives of the municipal authority of Doda.
