Congress intensifies protest against BJP Govt’s failures on Smart Meters, Property Tax

Uday asks BJP Govt to restore Statehood to J&K

JAMMU, Aug 4: The Congress Party today launched a vigorous protest against the BJP government for its failures on key issues including the imposition of smart meters, property tax, and the long-standing demand for statehood.

The protesters, spearheaded by Uday Chib, General Secretary of the Indian National Congress, assembled near Bazigar Basti in Purkhu Panchayat, Jammu North Assembly and raised slogans against the government.

Talking to reporters, Uday Chib said that the BJP has spectacularly failed to protect the rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir. The forced implementation of smart meters and unjust property taxes have placed an undue burden on the common man, while their promises of statehood remain nothing more than empty rhetoric, he added.

He emphasized the need for immediate action, demanding that the BJP government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “The current dispensation has shown a complete disregard for the aspirations of the people. It is high time that the BJP fulfills its promises and restores statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted.

Uday Chib highlighted the stark contrast between the BJP’s promises and their actual performance. “The present dispensation has shown a blatant disregard for the needs and aspirations of the people. Their policies are not only impractical but also detrimental to the welfare of our citizens,” he added.

Chib reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of Jammu’s residents. “It is only Congress that stands as a true advocate for the people’s rights. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and that their demands for fair governance and genuine autonomy are met,” he declared.

He reiterated the resolve of Congress Party to fight for the people’s rights and to bring about the necessary changes in governance.

Among those who joined the protest include Surinder Kumar, Parshotam Singh, Aman Singh, Sikander Singh, Ranjodh Singh, Sunil Kumar, Anil Kumar, Madam Singh, Jangbadhur, Kamal Singh, Kaka Ram, Kamal Chib, Tarun Vaid and Sunil Chib.
