DC Pulwama finalizes arrangements for Independence Day, 2024 celebrations

Directs close coordination to ensure meticulous arrangements for smooth celebrations
PULWAMA, AUGUST 07: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom chaired a comprehensive review meeting today at Circuit House Pulwama to review ongoing preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The meeting discussed various aspects viz. security arrangements, cultural programmes, venue preparations, PAS installation, availability of Ambulances and Fire tenders at the venue, availability of uninterrupted water and power supply and public engagement activities.
The DC underscored the significance of the Independence Day celebrations, emphasizing the necessity of a well-coordinated and successful event that embodies the spirit of unity and patriotism. He called for active participation and cooperation from all departments and the public to ensure that the occasion is memorable.
Dr. Basharat highlighted the importance of this national event, stating that the day would be celebrated with fervent patriotism, honoring the freedom fighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.
In District Pulwama, besides the two major functions at DPL Pulwama and DPL Awantipora, Independence Day celebrations will also be held at the subdivision, tehsil, and block levels. Furthermore, flag hoisting ceremonies will take place at all government offices, hospitals, and schools, ensuring that the spirit of independence is celebrated widely and with great fervor across the entire district.
The meeting was informed that the march-past will showcase contingents from the J&K Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NCC, and various schools. Additionally, preparations for a vibrant cultural program are underway, with meticulous rehearsals currently in progress to ensure a spectacular presentation on the occasion.
Sensitizing officers about their roles and responsibilities, the DC instructed that all arrangements be made in advance, emphasizing the need for fool-proof arrangements for the smooth conduct of the celebrations in all Tehsils, Blocks and administrative units of the District.
The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama and Awantipora, ADDC Pulwama, ADCs of Pulwama, Tral, and Awantipora and all district and sectoral officers.
Pulwama is all set to celebrate Independence Day with grandeur, ensuring the active participation of officials, students, and the public in a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s independence.
