GCW Parade organises essay writing competition on “Unsung Heroes of Indian Independence”

JAMMU, AUGUST 08: Keeping up with the spirit of the celebrations going on throughout the country ahead of Independence Day, 2024 the Literary Club of GCW Parade Ground Jammu, organized an essay writing competition on the topic the “Unsung Heroes of Indian Independence” under the patronage of the college Principal Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo.


The event aimed to shed light on the lesser-known freedom fighters who played pivotal roles in India’s struggle for freedom.


The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across the semesters. Each student showcased her research and writing skills by bringing to life the stories of forgotten freedom fighters. The Convenor of the literary club, Dr. Ritu Magotra emphasized the importance of remembering and honoring those who contributed to India’s independence but did not receive widespread recognition. “Our history is rich with the contributions of many brave souls. It is our duty to acknowledge and celebrate their sacrifices,” she remarked.


The panel of judges comprised of Prof. Renu Angurana and Prof. Menaka Thappa. The first prize was awarded to Anmol Deep Kour of 5th Semester, 2nd prize was bagged by Suhani Gupta of 5th Semester and 3rd prize was won by Chanpreet Kour of 5th Semester.


Other Literary Club members involved with the organizing of the event included Prof. Seema Malpotra Prof. Archana Dubey, Prof. Anuradha Kalsi, Dr. Parveen Kumari, Dr. Sukriti Sharma, Dr. Mamta Sharma, Dr. Arti Devi and Dr. Randheer Kour.
