The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the pressing issues relevant to senior citizens, with leaders sharing their insights and strategies on how best to address the needs of the elderly community.

The discussions emphasized the critical role senior citizens play in society and the importance of continued advocacy and support for them.

J.D. Singh, in his address, highlighted the significant role senior citizens have in every sphere of society.

He encouraged them to share the wealth of their life experiences with the younger generations, thereby contributing to the vision of a developed nation, “Viksit Bharat,” as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Singh stressed that the wisdom and experiences of senior citizens are invaluable in guiding the youth and fostering the nation’s progress.

During the meeting, J.D. Singh reflected on the history of governance in India and Jammu and Kashmir, pointing out that senior citizens have witnessed the programs and policies of various political parties over the decades.

He specifically mentioned that for most of the time after independence, Congress ruled at the Centre, while regional parties like NC and PDP held power in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, despite their prolonged governance, people were often discriminated against and deprived of their genuine rights, with regional parties promoting dynastic rule rather than serving the public, he said.

J.D. Singh further urged the senior citizens to take a stand against the political parties that have engaged in the politics of appeasement and false sloganeering.

He emphasized that it was the BJP-led NDA government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that has presented a true model of good governance over the past decade, addressing the suffering of people across the Union Territory.

Singh praised the Modi government for its historic decisions and the significant strides it has made in the development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh also highlighted various development projects and welfare schemes launched by the Modi government over the last ten years. He spoke about the remarkable work accomplished by the BJP-led NDA government since it came to power in 2014, which led to widespread appreciation and a subsequent electoral victory in 2019.

J.D. Singh emphasized that under PM Modi’s leadership, India witnessed all-around development, and significant efforts were made to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the poor and marginalized sections of society.

He described the achievements of the Modi government as unparalleled, stressing the crucial role that senior citizens play in educating society about these developments.

Singh urged the senior citizens to garner support for the BJP to ensure that more projects are brought to Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the creation of a “Naya Jammu and Kashmir,” where people can progress and lead dignified lives.
