Punjab police arrests 5 accused in murder, incliuding gangster Nata in Rajpura

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India] August 14 (ANI): The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab arrested five suspects in a murder case, including the mastermind and notorious gangster Sunil Bhandari, alias Nata, in Rajpura, Punjab, police said on Wednesday.

Nata was also wanted in connection with several heinous crimes, including three murders in Ferozpur, Punjab.

The police reported that Nata and his gang were travelling in two SUVs when they were arrested based on a tip-off near the National Highway in Rajpura.

The police confiscated five pistols, 40 live cartridges, and two vehicles.

Nata is said to be a member of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.

Earlier, in an intelligence-based operation, the Punjab Police’s State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar busted a cross-border smuggling module by apprehending two suspects from Chabal, Tarn Taran, and recovering sophisticated illegal weapons from them.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both suspects had been receiving consignments of illegal weapons sent through drones by their cross-border handlers.

The accused had been in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler who has been pushing large consignments of weapons and drugs into Indian territory through drones and other means.

The SSOC, Amritsar, recovered four pistols along with four magazines from the apprehended suspects.

An FIR has been registered at the SSOC Police Station in Amritsar. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the accused’s previous smuggling activities.

On July 28, Counter Intelligence Amritsar seized over Rs1.07 crore in drug money and apprehended two operatives linked to foreign-based top drug smugglers Gurjant Singh, alias Bholu, and Kinderbir Singh, alias Sunny Dyal, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav.

Those arrested have been identified as Dilbag Singh, a resident of Lohka village in Tarn Taran, and Kamaldeep Singh, a resident of Patti in Tarn Taran. In addition to seizing the drug money, police teams also recovered a money-counting machine, two mobile phones, and impounded their Maruti Swift car.
