Rajasthan: 42 students stranded at school as bridge connecting their school with village gets flooded
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 16 (ANI): About 42 students have been stranded at their school in Phagi after the Masi River got flooded and started flowing over the bridge connecting their school with their village.
The villagers had made food and bedding arrangements on their own.
Amba Lal Bahiro, parent of the stranded students said, “… There’s no other way to commute… 42 students and eight staff members are stranded in the school… The villagers made arrangements for food and bedding for the students… No one from the administration has reached us till now… I talked to the SDM last night, after which he has been unreachable. No rescue team has been sent… The children have been stranded for the last 27 hours. When I talked to my daughter she started crying.”
Rains lashed some places in Dausa, Sikar, Nagaur and Jodhpur districts over the past 24 hours, while very heavy rainfall was witnessed in some places in Jaipur district, according to weather data till Thursday morning.
Heavy rainfall activity in the state is likely to reduce from August 17, a meteorological department official said.
