Gujarat govt’s ‘Garvi Gurjari’ brand receives trademark certification from Centre

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], August 16 (ANI): The Gujarat Government has achieved another milestone in the field of handicrafts under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel as the Government of India has granted a trademark certificate to the Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (GSHHDC) for its brand “Garvi Gurjari”, said an official release from the state government.

The trademark certification is not only a testament to the corporation’s renowned brand- “Garvi Gurjari”, but also a crucial step towards developing and preserving the handicraft sector of Gujarat.

Lalit Narayan Singh Sandu, Managing Director of GSHHDC, said both the Central Government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Gujarat Government, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, have consistently promoted the traditional art and craft of Gujarat and as a result, the corporation’s Garvi Gurjari brand has achieved a trademark certificate from the Government of India.

A trademark certificate offers legal brand recognition and protection for any business. With this certificate, the corporation has the power to prevent unauthorized use of its brand/name or logo by any individual/entity and secure exclusive rights to its brand identity.

The legal security empowers the corporation to fortify its market presence and reputation and enables swift action against any brand/identity infringement.

Trademark registration will help “Garvi Gurjari” in developing a unique identity in the vast handicraft market. This will allow the consumers to determine and differentiate Garvi Gurjari products from others.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel extended his wishes to the GSHHDC for getting a trademark for the Garvi Gurjari brand and said that this trade mark certification will guarantee legal protection for the beautiful handloom and handicrafts creations of Gujarati artisans marketed through Garvi Gurjari.

In a social media post on X, Bhupendra Patel wrote, ‘Congratulations @Garvi_Gurjari for becoming a Trade Mark brand of Government of India @DPIITGoI. Getting @cgpdtm_india. Trade Mark certification is an important milestone for GSHHDC, which will guarantee legal protection to the beautiful handloom and handicrafts creations of Gujarati artisans marketed through Garvi Gurjari. This will also open new doors for franchising and licensing while boosting customer confidence in Garvi Gurjari products, leading to higher economic benefits for local artisans. #vocalforlocal #onedistrictoneproduct #handloom.”

By securing its brand of products with a recognised trademark, Garvi Gurjari has secured a competitive edge. The move not only opens doors for franchising and licensing opportunities but also enables Garvi Gurjari to broaden its reach and boost revenues.

The trademark acts as a safeguard, protecting the rich cultural heritage of Garvi Gurjari from unauthorized use or misrepresentation of Gujarat’s traditional craftsmanship.

Through the trademark, the Corporation can uphold the legacy for future generations and provide consumers with assurance regarding the quality and authenticity of Garvi Gurjari products. Additionally, it enables the Corporation to meet the required standards of handicraft and handicraft products, ensuring customer trust and satisfaction.

With the trademark, Garvi Gurjari will distinguish itself in the minds of consumers, showcasing its uniqueness vis-a-vis other brands. Utilizing the trademark will help the corporation in conducting effective marketing and bolstering its brand presence in the market, instilling confidence among consumers that all products bearing the Garvi Gurjari trademark maintain consistent quality and standards.

Getting a trademark certification signifies a strategic milestone for Gujarat State Handicrafts and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (GSHHDC). As the Garvi Gurjari brand achieves newer heights, the certification has a pivotal role to play in safeguarding Gujarat’s vibrant handloom, handicraft heritage and ensuring employment opportunities to the craftsmen and artisans.
