Bengal horror: BJP Mahila Morcha takes out silent candle march to condemn rape, murder of female doctor
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 16 (ANI): To protest against the rape and murder of a junior doctor, the BJP Mahila Morcha under the leadership its national president Vanathi Srinivasan took out a silent candle march outside the Medical College.
Besides Vanathi Srinivasan, present at the march were national office bearers of Mahila Morcha and Rajya Sabha MP Darshan Singh, Sangeeta Yadav, Geeta Shakya, Indu Bala Coswami and West Bengal in-charge Pooja Kapil Mishra.
Addressing the media, Vanathi Srinivasan said, “It is the misfortune of West Bengal that despite having a woman Chief Minister, the sisters and daughters of the state are not safe. It is with profound sadness and outrage that I am here to bring the attention of a female Chief Minister to address the recent horrific incident involving the brutal rape and murder of a women doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital here in Kolkata.”
“This heinous act underscores the dire state of women’s safety in West Bengal and what is more shameful is that the government and administration here are completely united and trying to deny this incident from the beginning and tried to erase the evidence,” she added.
“The TMC government has become an anti-women government for whom power is paramount. We are all speechless. And we demand that the family of the female doctor should get justice and that the sisters and daughters of West Bengal should be safe,” he added.
State President of Bengal Mahila Morcha Falguni Patra and the entire team were present in the demonstration.
