University of Jammu to Collaborate with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts

JAMMU, February 21- Jammu University club cluster meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Umesh Rai emphasised that it will be a great opportunity for the University of Jammu to Collaborate with IGNA to make all the twelve clubs more vibrant and inclusive.

In order to make the students more participative and to take activities more seriously in the clubs, University is envisaging to place before the ensuing Academic Council meeting the proposal for granting 4 credits to the students who participate in the club activities.

Ms. Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA)  informed about various courses that are being offered by IGNCA in which various clubs of the University can collaborate so that the students can benefit from the courses like Post Graduate Diploma Courses of Cultural Informatics, Preventive Conservation, Digital Library and Data Management, etc. and the Short Term Courses like Philology, Linguistics, Mathematics, Astronomy, Ayurveda, etc.

Innovative ideas and suggestions were put forward to make these clubs vibrant and to promote the heritage, art and culture, and preserve the dwindling history of the Jammu region.

It is pertinent to mention here  that the University of Jammu has recently launched a cluster of 12 clubs, aligned with the vision of NEP-20, to provide an informal platform for the students to manifest their hidden talents beyond the curriculum of the specific disciplines.

Among others, Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairperson, Club Cluster, Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Prof. Suman Jamwal, Prof. Parmil Kumar, Dr. Shashi Prabha, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Dr. Sadaf Shah, Dr. Garima Gupta, Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Dr. Madhulika Singh, Dr. Pritam Singh, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Sh. Rakesh Sharma, and Dr. Priya Datta were also present in the meeting.
