GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organizes Voter’s Pledge under SVEEP

KATHUA, AUGUST 31: The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of Govt GLDM Degree College Hiranagar, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the College, organized a Voter’s Pledge today to raise awareness among students about the vital importance of voting rights.


This initiative aimed to empower students with the knowledge and responsibility required to participate actively in the democratic process.


Convener of the Electoral Literacy Club Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, formally welcomed the faculty members and students to the event. He introduced the context of the Voter’s Pledge in light of the ongoing Legislative Assembly Elections, where lakhs of eligible voters of Jammu & Kashmir will have the opportunity to elect their Legislators (MLAs) and shape the future government.


The pledge-taking ceremony was led by Saloni, the Campus Ambassador of the college, who inspired her peers to commit to the principles of ethical voting and civic duty.


Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal GLDM Degree College, addressed the gathering, urging the campus ambassadors and other students to extend their efforts beyond the campus and spread awareness about voting rights within the wider community. She also announced incentives for campus ambassadors and students who demonstrate leadership in promoting democratic values and contributing to the strengthening of society’s democratic ethos.


The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vijay Kumar, a member of the Electoral Literacy Club. He expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for their collective efforts in making the event a success.


The program was coordinated by the Campus Ambassadors, who have been appointed to disseminate information about voting rights.
