Media Persons briefed about MCC Guidelines

KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 02: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar, Ghulam Rasool – the Nodal Officer for Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for Assembly Election 2024 on Monday chaired a meeting with media persons to discuss the MCC guidelines for media coverage during the election period.


The ADDC urged media personnel to strictly adhere to the established guidelines, which includes ensuring that all information is thoroughly verified before publishing or broadcasting. This includes cross-checking data with official sources and reputable references to prevent the dissemination of unverified or speculative reports.


Media personnel were reminded to maintain impartiality, uphold the integrity of the electoral process by avoiding bias in their reporting. He also highlighted the need to use credible sources and accurately attribute information to avoid spreading misinformation.


The Media was advised to avoid sensational or provocative headlines that could potentially influence voter opinion, thus ensuring an unbiased and informed electorate.


The meeting also addressed the responsible use of social media, emphasizing that all posts should be tagged with the MCC to ensure transparency and accountability.


The meeting was attended by DIO Kuldeep Kumar, Nodal Officer Training Riyaz Ahmed Butt besides representatives of media houses.
