Teachers’ Day: Talent takes centrestage at IIMC Jammu

Jammu Sept, 5: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication Jammu (IIMC Jammu) honored its faculty members on Teachers’ Day. The event was held on IIMC Campus,  to pay tributes to the educators who have nurtured generations of media professionals and contributed significantly for  the growth of the institution as a leading center of excellence in the field mass communication.

The program commenced with an invocation by Shivam and Chandrani, setting a serene and spiritual tone. The lighting of the lamp by Professor Anil Saumitra, Dr. Dilip Kumar (Regional Director), and faculty members symbolized the illumination of knowledge and wisdom.

A series of captivating performances by the students followed. Prasannta From Hindi Journalism, Bhawana from English Journalism and Madhuri from Digital Media presented a beautiful Saraswati Vandana, invoking the goddess of learning. Anamika From Digital Media recited  a powerful recitation poem on the significance of teachers left the audience deeply moved. Laurel from Digital Media , Madhuri from Digital Media, and Akshita from English Journalism  encaptured the audience with their melodious singing performance

The cultural extravaganza continued with a series of games and performances. The ‘dumb charades’ game featured movie guessing names by Teachers proved to be a hilarious highlight. Abhishek Tiwari from Hindi Journalism presented a soulful poem on Lord Rama that garnered thunderous applause. Other notable performances included a group dance by Madhuri from Digital Media, Janvi from Digital Media, Himanshi from Hindi Journalism, and Nisha from Digital Media, and a melodious song by Nikhil from Hindi Journalism.

The faculty members, in turn, showed their playful side by participating in a ramp walk. Dr. Dilip Kumar and Dr. Anil Saumitra concluded the event with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking a joyous end to the celebrations. In his address, Dr. Dilip Kumar expressed his gratitude to the faculty for their unwavering dedication and contribution in the field of education. He emphasized the importance of the student- teacher relationship and encouraged students to apply the knowledge and guidance they receive by mentors.

The event culminated with a vote of thanks by Bhawana from English Journalism, expressing the students’ heartfelt appreciation to the faculty. The Teachers’ Day celebration at IIMC was a resounding success, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the institute and the deep bond between teachers and students.
