Telangana: 6 maoists killed in encounter with police forces in Bhadradri Kothagudem

Bhadradri Kothagudem (Telangana) [India], September 5 (ANI): Six maoists were killed in an encounter with police forces in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday, a senior police official said.

As per an official press release from Superintendent of Police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, “On September 5 morning in the forest area of Mothe village, located 5km North West of Karakagudem Police Station, Bhadradri- Kothagudem District, an Exchange of Fire (EoF) took place between a Police party and outlawed CPI (M) armed cadres during a routine patrolling. The armed CPI (M) cadres opened fire indiscriminately on the police party.”

After warning the maoist cadres to stop fire, they continued firing; the police party also returned fire. After the firing stopped from CPI (M) armed cadres, police searched the area and found six dead bodies, clad in olive green dresses. The identity of the deceased cadres is not yet established, the release stated.

The police recovered the following weapons: AK-47-02, SLR-01, .303 Rifle 01, Pistol-01 and magazines, live rounds, kit bags and other materials from the scene of the Exchange of Fire.
