Rajasthan CM Sharma’s visit to Korea attracts top Korean firms in state investments

Seoul [South Korea], September 10 (ANI): On the second day of the visit of a high-level delegation of the Government of Rajasthan led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, many South Korean firms expressed their interest in exploring opportunities in Rajasthan and expanding their business in the state. This includes several leading South Korean firms, including Samsung Healthcare, LX International, Orion Corporation, and Hyosung Corporation, as well as Korean Stone Association.

Samsung Healthcare expressed its interest in collaborating with Rajasthan’s Medical and Health Department to provide AI-based new healthcare devices, while Orion Corporation, which has an existing manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, discussed its growth plans for the state, said an official statement.

LX International, another South Korean firm, showed interest in mining opportunities in the state for limestone (steel grade), silica, gypsum, lignite, rare earth minerals and renewable energy etc. Another leading South Korean firm Hyosung Corporation was keen on exploring ways to localize carbon fiber production in India.

The delegation also partook in a roundtable interaction with the representatives of the Korean Stone Association, in which technological cooperation, purchasing/distribution, and export of the stones produced in Rajasthan were discussed. Further cooperation between the Korean Stone Association and the Centre for Development of Stones, a Rajasthan government entity, was also explored. A delegation from the Korean Stone Association is set to visit Rajasthan in October, and they were also invited to India Stone Mart 2026, which will be held in Jaipur in February 2026.

The Chief Minister-led delegation also toured the Seoul Technical High School to explore the collaboration between South Korea and Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation on imparting skill training to the youth of Rajasthan. During the visit to the school, Chief Minister Sharma witnessed the remarkable initiatives fostering student innovation and creativity, the advanced technical centre at the school, interacted with students and experienced the highly advanced AI tech being taught in the classrooms.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said, “The focus on imparting skill development is key to provide employment to the youth. The knowledge gained by practical implementation of the skills and vocational training makes the youth more dynamic and hands-on in addition to the theoretical understanding. I welcome this esteemed institution to visit Rajasthan and set up an institution in the state.”

A day before, addressing the investors at Seoul Investors’ Meet, Sharma had noted that his government has a huge emphasis on qualitative improvement in education and skill training in the state.

With these meetings, the delegation has concluded its South Korea visit and will now proceed to Japan as part of the preparations for the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, which is scheduled to take place from December 9th to 11th, 2024, in Jaipur. The high-level delegation that is on South Korea visit along with the Chief Minister consists of Prem Chand Bairwa, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Rajasthan, Shikhar Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary to CM, Government of Rajasthan, Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, and other top officials of Government of Rajasthan.

The Government of Rajasthan, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, will be hosting the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 on 9th, 10th, and 11th December 2024 in the capital, Jaipur. The 3-day mega summit, which aims to attract and facilitate global investment, innovation, and partnerships in the state, is organized with the support of the Industry and Commerce Department, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), and RIICO, with BIP serving as the nodal department for this summit.

During the summit, special plenary sessions will be organised on different focus sectors, including Agriculture, Renewable, Education and Skilling, Auto and EV, Infrastructure, Chemical and Petro-chemical, Tourism, Startups, Mining and ESDM/IT and ITeS and others.
