SMVDU hosts U S Based Alumnus for a Talk on Biotechnology and Career Advancement

REASI, September 17: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) continued its distinguished Alumni Talk Series with an enriching session featuring Dr. Abijeet Mehta, a prominent Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Berkley (USA). Known for his pioneering research in biosensors for cancer immunotherapy, Dr. Mehta captivated students and faculty alike with his insights into career progression in biotechnology and the evolving global landscape of scientific research. The event, co-hosted by the Office of International and Alumni Affairs and the School of Biotechnology, brought together students, faculty, and research scholars eager to gain from Dr. Mehta’s experience.

His presentation, titled “From Classroom to Cutting-Edge Research: Navigating a Career in Biomedical Sciences ,” covered critical aspects of transitioning from academia to industry, interdisciplinary skill development, as well as his experiences and critical ups and downs that played a pivotal role in his professional journey.Dr. Mehta also delved into his cutting-edge research on developing biosensors for cancer treatment, which has positioned him at the forefront of the field. Faculty members and students engaged in a lively discussion, seeking Dr. Mehta’s advice on research opportunities, and building a successful career in biomedical sciences. The session provided attendees with practical insights into the biotechnology research industry, as well as strategies for navigating professional challenges and seizing new opportunities.Moderated by Ujjasvi Sharma, a student from the School of Biotechnology, the event was smoothly coordinated by Yuvraj Singh Pathania, Alumni Student Coordinator. Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Associate Dean of International and Alumni Affairs, concluded the session by highlighting the significance of alumni interactions in bridging the gap between education and professional success. Dr. Vinod Singh (Asst. Prof., SoBT) also attended the event.
