DSE Ladakh announces MACP for lecturers; Ladakh Teacher Award Policy also rolled out

Leh, 18 Sept: In a major development, the Department of School Education, UT Ladakh has announced the implementation of the provision of Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) to the lecturers of the School Education Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, in sync with the rest of the country. In this regard, a Departmental Screening Committee has been constituted, wherein the Director, School Education, UT Ladakh shall be the Chairperson, and the Chief Education Officer, Leh, and Kargil shall be committee members, who shall examine and recommend lecturers eligible for the financial upgradation, strictly as per guidelines of the MACP scheme of 2019.
It is pertinent to note that the scheme shall be operative in the UT of Ladakh from the date of issuance of the order, i.e 05.09.2024.


This Central Government provision intends to facilitate financial upgradations to employees facing stagnation due to lack of promotional opportunities. MACP ensures every government servant upgradation on completion of 10, 20 and 30 years of regular service from the date of joining.


Additionally, the department has also announced the adoption of Ladakh Teacher Award Policy in the School Education Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh. All teaching faculties, inclusive of Lecturers/Masters/Teachers, of the School Education Department of UT Ladakh, shall be entitled to avail the benefit of the yearly best teacher award under the Teacher Award Policy of UT Ladakh.


The percentage of academic results achieved, the conduct of extra classes, means and methods used in the classroom, innovative practices, subject knowledge, communication skills, regularity, community engagement, voluntarism, etc shall be evaluated, along with feedback from students and DDOs.
The policy has been introduced to identify and celebrate outstanding teachers in UT Ladakh who significantly promote quality education and lifelong learning practices among students while fostering a culture of excellence within the teaching community in a fair process.


The award shall encompass a cash incentive and an exposure tour within the country.
