GCW Parade hosts awareness event to mark World Ozone Day

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: World Ozone day was celebrated today at Govt. College for Women, Parade by the Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with Science Club.


Principal Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo graced the occasion with his presence. Dr. Harmanmeet Kour HOD Department of Environmental Science in her welcome address stressed on the need to promote green measures in our institutions so that we can contribute in Ozone layer healing. Dr. Anuradha from Pollution Control Committee, J&K was the resource person who made a thoughtful presentation regarding different measures which each one of us can take up to ensure protection of the protective ozone shield surrounding planet Earth. She emphasized on the importance of planting trees, conserving energy and e-waste management.


The event also included Poster making competition wherein Tanisha and Shubham Sharma were adjudged first and second respectively whereas 2 students viz., Aseesabjot Kour and Sanskriti shared the third position.


Poster making was judged by Dr. Shamim Akhter, Prof. Surbhi Gupta, Dr. Atiya Syed and Dr. Sushma Sharma. The winners and participants were given e-certificates.
