Nation’s security jeopardized, borders unsafe under BJP rule, says Kharge in Chhamb

BJP ruined J&K in last ten years: DY CM HP Agnihotri

Chhamb, September 21:- Seeking the support of the people for Congress to establish a stable and pro-people government in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday lambasted the BJP for pursuing anti-youth and anti-poor policies.

Telephonically addressing a mammoth rally at the border town of Chhamb in favour of party candidate and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Mr. Kharge especially mentioned the Agniveer scheme launched by the BJP government.

“Being the residents of a border area, you are very much aware that the BJP-led government at the Centre is compromising with the nation’s security and defense by launching the Agniveer scheme”, he said.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge who arrived here today morning in Jammu for addressing public meeting at Khour, could not reach there due to refusal of chopper permission. He addressed the rally from Jammu telephonically.

He strongly criticized the BJP’s Agniveer scheme, calling it a reckless move that jeopardizes the future of India’s youth and undermines the integrity of the country’s defense forces.

Kharge said, “The Agniveer scheme is nothing but a short-sighted attempt by the BJP to exploit the aspirations of young Indians. By offering temporary, four-year stints in the armed forces without any long-term benefits, this scheme deprives our youth of stable career opportunities and fails to provide them the respect and security they deserve.”

Kharge also expressed concern over the impact on the armed forces, stating that the scheme could compromise the professionalism and morale of the military.

“Our armed forces are built on the foundation of discipline, experience, and dedication. By introducing short-term recruits under the Agniveer scheme, the BJP is playing with the future of our defense forces, risking their effectiveness and weakening our national security”, he said.

Kharge assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the Congress party is fully committed to restoring the statehood of the region and accelerating developmental activities that have stalled under the current regime.

Kharge said, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have been unjustly deprived of their statehood, and the Congress party will leave no stone unturned in restoring it. We believe that statehood is the constitutional and democratic right of the people, and our top priority will be to ensure that Jammu and Kashmir once again enjoys full statehood with dignity and self-governance.”AICC Incharge Jk affairs Bharat Sinh Solanki & Rajya Sabha MP Nasir Hussain were also present.

Kharge highlighted the BJP’s failure to deliver on its promises of development and good governance, accusing the ruling party of neglecting the aspirations of the people.

“For over a decade, the BJP has made hollow promises and failed to deliver on its commitments to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Unemployment is soaring, developmental projects have been delayed, and basic services remain out of reach for many. The Congress party is committed to reversing this trend by accelerating developmental activities, creating jobs, and ensuring that the region’s natural and human resources are utilized for the benefit of its people.”

He further emphasized the Congress party’s vision for the region, stating, “Our goal is to bring comprehensive development to Jammu and Kashmir, from infrastructure to healthcare, education, and employment. We will focus on empowering local communities, ensuring fair and equitable growth, and safeguarding the unique cultural and historical identity of this region.”

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and special AICC observer for J&K, Mukesh Agnihotri asked people to support coalition candidates to install a pro-people government in Jammu and Kashmir.

“For the last 10 years, BJP has been ruling J&K through proxy. It is high time to teach the BJP a lesson for its misdeeds and anti-people policies”, he said.

“The future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in its people. The Congress party is committed to standing with you in this journey, and we will work tirelessly to restore your rights, your statehood, and your prosperity”, he assured the people.

Mr Agnihotri further accused the BJP of pushing the scheme without proper consultation or consideration of its long-term consequences.

“The government has rushed into this ill-conceived plan without listening to experts, veterans, or the very youth they claim to empower. This shows once again that the BJP is more interested in headlines than in real solutions for the country’s challenges”, he said.

Former Deputy Chief Minister & Congress candidateTara Chand, who organized the impressive rally, in his address said that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir is bearing the brunt of the wrong policies of the BJP but Jammu is the worst victim of Saffron Party’s misdeeds.

He especially mentioned that locals of the Jammu region have been politically, economically, and socially disempowered by the BJP-led administration. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been plunged into unprecedented crises due to the misdeeds of the BJP-controlled administration.
