NSS unit of EJM College initiates Cleanliness Drive during their camp

Leh, September 26: The NSS unit of EJM College Leh took their annual special camp to Hemis-Shukpachan from 23rd September 2024 along with 31 student volunteers and three staff members. During the camp, the students and staffs engaged with the local community to create awareness about Cleanliness as part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.

During the camp, NSS volunteers and members undertook 3 hours trek in the mountains of the village and adhered to the spirit of ‘cleanliness is Godliness’ by maintaining cleanliness along the route. On 24th September, the volunteers engaged in the spreading of community awareness by showcasing a variety of programmes like skits, dance performance and lectures on the importance of cleanliness, healthy lifestyle and Menstrual health. The programme held at the community hall of Hemis Shukpachan and the villagers attended the programme. The volunteers also cleaned the area in and around the community hall.

On the final day of the camp, volunteers thoroughly cleaned the campsite before leaving the village. Thereafter, the students visited the Alchi Dam Project site and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib near Taru. The faculty members accompanying the NSS students were Assistant Proffesor Jigmet Sangyas (PO, NSS unit), Assistant Prof Sabah Sharif (member NSS) and Dr. Tsering Chorol (PO NSS unit).
