JKSCC Clarifies Misinformation and Reaffirms Commitment to Community Unity

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the media for their presence today, recognizing the demands of their busy schedules. The primary focus of today’s press conference is our unwavering commitment to fostering unity within the community and our broader responsibility towards society.

In recent days, various Sikh organizations have held press conferences where differing opinions were expressed, with some supporting and others opposing certain matters. While we respect the right to personal opinion, it has become necessary to address a concerning issue that has surfaced.

A self-proclaimed leader recently misrepresented the Sikh community by making inappropriate references to the esteemed Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji, the head of Shromani Dera Nangali Sahib. Shromani Dera Nangali Sahib stands as a significant pillar of Sikhism in Jammu and Kashmir, and we maintain our steadfast adherence to Mahant Sahib’s teachings and guidance.

Yesterday morning, a delegation from the aforementioned leader’s group visited Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji to seek clarification. Mahant Sahib unequivocally rejected the false claims attributed to him.

Furthermore, this morning from the Digiana Ashram, Mahant Sahib issued a clear and decisive message: Shromani Dera Nangali Sahib stands as a place of equality for all, and no individual or organization should misuse its name for political or electoral gain.

In addition, the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Coordination Committee (JKSCC) highlighted several key achievements that have been accomplished since the formation of the committee, including: The implementation of the Anand Marriage Act.

Nomination of a Sikh member to the Public Service Commission. Extension of the benefits under Section 254C to migrant Sikhs. Installation of the statue of Baba Bandha Singh Bahadur Ji. The Chairman expressed sincere gratitude to LG Sahab and the Central Government for addressing these long-standing grievances. Additionally, it was mentioned that other crucial demands, such as the establishment of a Minority Commission and the implementation of the Punjabi language, are currently under consideration and are expected to be resolved soon.

The Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Coordination Committee remains fully committed to the upliftment of the Sikh community. No effort will be spared in striving towards the betterment of our people and addressing their concerns. We reiterate our dedication to unity, truth, and service, and look forward to continuing our efforts in
collaboration with community members and the authorities to ensure a bright future for all.
