AAI’s Pune Airport hosts plantation drive to mark 80th anniversary of International Civil Aviation Organization
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], October 1 (ANI): The Pune Airport organized a plantation drive on Tuesday, in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) of Pune Airport.
According to an official release, the plantation drive was conducted as part of a nationwide environmental initiative to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The event was graced by the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol.
This plantation drive was based on the theme of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ which is a nationwide campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour the nurturing spirit of mothers while promoting environmental conservation.
AAI has done similar plantation drives across its airports in India where 80,000 tree saplings were planted to commemorate ICAO’s 80 years to support the green initiative and bolster sustainability efforts in the aviation sector.
Key stakeholders, including officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), various airlines, and other airport agencies, actively participated in the event at Pune Airport.
The initiative underscores AAI’s commitment to foster a greener environment and aligns with the broader mission to reduce the carbon footprint of India’s aviation industry.
