8 teams formed to nab 3 accused in NCP leader’s murder case: Mumbai Police
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 5 (ANI): After Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Ajit Pawar faction leader Sachin Kurmi was killed in Mumbai’s Byculla area on Saturday midnight, Mumbai Police said that eight teams and two additional teams of the Mumbai Crime Branch were formed to nab the three accused in the case.
As per the Mumbai Police, Sachin Kurmi had left his house for a walk after dinner when three accused came on a two-wheeler and killed him with a sharp weapon.
“The killers attacked his body more than five times. The police have formed 8 teams to catch the accused. Apart from this, 2 teams of the crime branch have also been formed, which are searching for the absconding accused in the case,” said a Mumbai Police official.
During the investigation, the police found CCTV footage in which three people were seen travelling on the two-wheeler and then after committing the crime, the three people fled.
Earlier, Mumbai Police said that Kurmi was attacked with a sharp weapon behind the MHADA colony in Mumbai’s Byculla area.
“This incident happened around 12:30 in mid-night. As soon as the police got information about the incident, they reached the spot, and took injured Sachin to the nearby JJ Hospital, where the doctor declared Kurmi dead after checking. The police took the body into their custody and sent it for a post-mortem,” the official added.
Police said that it was not yet clear who attacked Sachin Kurmi. According to the police, 2 to 3 people were involved in the attack. The incident has raised concerns about security in the region.
