Department of Psychology EJM College organized World Mental Health Day

Leh, October 10, 2024: Department of psychology organized the ‘World Mental Health Day’ on October 10, 2024. Every year World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO), keeping in consideration the emerging issue and challenges through-out the world release a theme to observe the day and this year the theme was “Its time to prioritize the mental health at work place”. Department of Psychology Elizer Joldan Memorial College also celebrated the ”World Mental Health Day” following the theme released by WFMH.

The program started by honoring the key-speaker Miss. Kunzes Dolma Clinical Psychologist by Dr. Sameena Iqbal Principal EJM College with traditional khataq. Following the program outline, a student of 3rd semester Zeskit delivered the welcome speech, appreciating the presence of the all the respected guest and students.

Ishey Dolkar, a student of 5th semester, depicted the influence of stress and un-necessary work load on individual and transfer of the same negative energy on the loved ones through videography. Students of psychology department also presented an informative skit to spread the awareness related to negative mental health and stigma related to the treatment of psychological disorders.

The students also performed a beautiful dance and sang a motivational song to develop the skill of resilience and self-esteem.


The key-speaker of the event Clinical Psychologist Kunzes Dolma, discussed and highlighted the causes, symptoms and major preventive measures to embrace the positive mental health and well-being specially at work places. She talked about prioritizing mental health in work place. She also urges the head of any institutions to maintain and monitor the status of mental health of their employees for productivity and performance and for promotion of the institution. She also shares some important techniques to measure and examine the mental health status of the employees’ time to time.

The program concluded with the word of thanks presented by student of 3rd semester Tsomo department of psychology. Overall program was coordinated by Head of the Psychology Department Dr. Syed Ali Shah and his Associates Mr. Stanzin Nurboo Assistant Professor and Miss. Dechan Yangdol (Laboratory Assistant).
