Gaining power not BJP’s sole mission in J&K: Sat
JAMMU, October 10: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only political party which works on the core mission of serving nation and its people. In Jammu and Kashmir, BJP has long history of struggle and sacrifices made for the full integration of the erstwhile state with the rest of the country. For BJP, strengthening nationalist forces in J&K is much more important than contesting elections for gaining power.
Sat Sharma, Working President, J&K BJP and the former minister, said this while discussing the increase in percentage of votes in its favour and also rise in tally of seats from 25 to 29, in UT in the recently concluded assembly elections and terming this gain as endorsement of pro-nation, pro-people programmes and policies of the BJP, with a group of party activists at party headquarter, Jammu.
“No doubt every political party works with the objective of contesting elections and coming to power but for BJP power is a mean to serve the nation and not to promote dynastic politics or encourage corruption”, Sat said, adding that Nation First, Party Second and Self Last is the basic principle of politics of BJP.
Sat Sharma further said that the people have themselves seen and realized that it is the BJP only which fulfilled its promise of abrogating Article 370 & 35A, granting citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees, giving dignified living to Valmiki and Gorkha Samaj, besides sanctioning number of prestigious health and educational institutions, launching numerous welfare schemes for the poor and needy.
The union government under PM Narendra Modi, had given a clear slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” and it was visible in every scheme of the government launched during the past over ten years, which treated all equal while extending benefits of social schemes.
Sat Sharma said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has always viewed its role in politics in J&K as an extension of its mission to serve the nation. For the BJP, politics is not merely about winning elections or holding positions of power, it is about dedicating oneself to the service of the people, he added.
Whether in power or in opposition, the BJP will continue to follow its mission of serving the nation and its people and unite people against the forces posing threat to the unity and integrity of the country, he assured.
