Mumbai Crime Branch to investigate NCP leader Sachin Kurmi’s murder case

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 13 (ANI): Mumbai Crime Branch will now investigate the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Ajit Pawar faction leader Sachin Kurmi, police said on Sunday.

NCP leader Sachin Kurmi was earlier killed by three people who attacked him with a sharp weapon. Three people have been arrested so far in the case.

As per the Mumbai Police, Sachin Kurmi had left his house for a walk after dinner when three accused came on a two-wheeler and killed him with a sharp weapon.

“The killers attacked his body more than five times. The police have formed 8 teams to catch the accused. Apart from this, 2 teams of the crime branch have also been formed, which are searching for the absconding accused in the case,” said a Mumbai Police official.

During the investigation, the police found CCTV footage in which three people were seen travelling on the two-wheeler and then after committing the crime they fled.

Meanwhile, on Saturday night, another leader from NCP-Ajit Pawar faction and former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique, sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being brought to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment, where he succumbed to death.

Esplanade court in Mumbai sent Gurmail Singh, accused in the Baba Siddique firing case to Mumbai Crime Branch custody till 21 October on Sunday.

NCP leader Siddique’s mortal remains were taken from his residence in Bandra for the state funeral on Sunday.

NCP leader Siddique’s last rites will be performed with full state honour at Bada Qabrastan, in Mumbai lines.
