Make driving schools proper functional, says Advisor Ladakh while discussing Supreme Court committee of Road Safety Act recommendations
Leh, Oct 14, 2024: The Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, chaired a meeting to discuss the recommendations submitted by the Supreme Court committee of Road Safety Act to ascertain the cause of road accident of the school which occurred on 22- 08-24 in leh district of UT Ladakh. The meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat Leh.
At the outset, The Administrative Secretary of R&B, Michael D Souza briefed the Advisor about the cause of the School bus accident, which left seven students dead and 21 injured.
During the meeting, discussions and deliberations were held on the recommendations of Supreme Court Committee of Road Safety.
The Advisor instructed the concerned officials that road safety Committee to be constituted, so that accidents like this shouldn’t re-occur in UT Ladakh.
He further directed concerned officials to identify accident prone areas, bottle necks, on the highways so that measures to rectify could be initiated.
To tackle with road accident meance in UT Ladakh, Advisor stressed that driving schools need to be proper functional, and make robust driving license procedures.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar; Administrative Secretary R&B Michael D’Souza; District Magistrate Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; Regional Transport Officer leh; Director Health Services; and other concerned officials. Director of School Education UT Ladakh joined the meeting virtually.
