Chairman DLSA Samba chairs UTRC meeting

SAMBA, OCTOBER 16: District Legal Services Authority, Samba as per the directions of National Legal Services Authority conducted third Undertrial Review Committee meeting as per the NLS Schedule for conducting UTRC meeting for the year 2024.

The main objective of launch of this Schedule by NALSA is to enhance the efficacy and impact of the UTRC meetings by establishing a fixed quarterly schedule for the year 2024.

The meeting was chaired by Pr. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman DLSA, Samba Ravinder Nath Wattal, with the members of Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) Samba.

The Committee reviewed cases of eligible UTPs/Prisoners shortlisted by the Secretary, DLSA Samba for consideration. The Committee considered 22 cases of UTPs/Prisoners out of which 3 Cases were recommended for release and 2 were recommended to the concerned Court for appropriate action.

The meeting was attended by Sandeep Singh Sen, Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Samba, Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Samba, G. R. Bhardwaj, Addl. SP on behalf of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba. Besides these, Veerinder Bhat Sr. Superintendent, Central Jail Kotbhalwal, Koushal Kumar, Superintendent, District Jail Kathua and Harish Kotwal, Superintendent District Jail Amphala, Jammu joined the meeting through Virtual mode and also Legal Aid Defense Counsels attended the meeting.
